Cities are still run by mayors, but these charlatans are puppets with purse strings. They have almost no legitimate power over the other governmental functions, but they still have mighty influence over the people. However, in the Ides, one man has stepped up and really helped organize the region making it a growing area that is seemingly more safe than the rest of the continent. All hail the Mayor of the Ides!
